This attractive little piece comprises a wonderful James I oak joint stool base to which has been added in the 18th century an elm and oak oval top. It is possible that the original top was damaged but it is more likely that the oval top was put on in order to make it more practical as a small table to stand beside a chair or in front of a sofa as a small coffee table. Lovely honey colour and patination. The top measures 18 inches x 22 inches and it stands 22 inches high.
