A VERY LARGE 18TH CENTURY BRASS INSCRIBED DISH.

A very large 18th century brass inscribed dish.

With a diameter of just over 18 inches, this exceptionally large dish is almost certainly Dutch. It has a twisted rope rim and the pressed decoration typical of 17th and 18th century alms dishes and wall sconces with flowers fruit and hearts. Centrally it has a coronet and below is inscribed "Antie Geerots 1762" - Antie is a Dutch word meaning a woman of authority. It may well be earlier than this date and inscribed in memory. It has a twisted brass wire on which to hang it. 18 inches diameter.
