Probably dating from the last quarter of the 15th century, this large and deeply carved ceiling boss depicts a Tudor rose with leaf decoration. It has a lovely untouched colour and retains most of its dark stain or paint. Looking at the back it has clearly been attached to the ceiling of a modern house at some point. It measures 10 inches square and is 3 inches deep.
