A rare survivor from the early 16th century, this oak coffret has had a slightly tough life but it is still a charming little piece. The two panelled top is held by early but not original iron hinges and with two linenfold panels to the front. Lovely early lockplate incorporating a heart motif. English circa 1520. 25 1/2 inches wide x 15 inches deep x 17 inches high.
