Dating from about 1635, this joint stool has a square edged top made from beautifully figured oak and is decorated on the edges with shallow scratch mouldings which are now well worn. The rails have channel mouldings and the elaborately turned legs terminate on the remains of their original toes. The stool bears the inventory mark FS. Wonderful colour and patination throughout. 19 1/2 inches x 11 inches across the top x 22 1/2 inches high.
