A fine pair of mid 17th century oak backstools with bobbin turned backs, legs and stretchers. They have boarded seats and unusual curved crest rails. Superb colour and patination and in excellent untouched condition. They are sold with a sheet of paper which describes their interesting provenance. They were purchased from the renowned London dealers Ronald A. Lee in the late 1960's and were bequeathed to a Derbyshire church and were subsequently sold to help fund restorations to the church. 40 inches high and the seat height 18 1/2 inches.
