Probably dating from about 1630, this wonderful chair is generously constructed and has a double panelled back with superb deep carving of the highest quality including guilloche, Tudor Rose and interlaced lunettes. The downswept arms have large fretted scrolls at back and are supported by baluster turnings with lovely wear to the insides and with similar baluster turned legs. Stunning colour and patination. Overall height 39 1/2 inches, seat height 17 1/2 inches and width is 24 inches. Probably Gloucestershire/Somerset.
