TWO WAINSCOT CHAIRS

Just arrived in the shop are two contrasting joined armchairs from the different parts of the country and respectively from the reigns of Charles I and his son Charles II. The former is an interesting chair with architectural decoration usually described as being in "the Laudian style" after Charles I's Archibishop of Canterbury. It is a big bold chair and is probably East Anglian (similar decoration can be seen on the pulpit in Aylsham church in Norfolk).NOW SOLD. The other chair is one that I sold a few years ago and have bought back. It has a fine cresting rail and the simple decoration to the back panel that one associates with the Dorset area and has stunning colour and patination. The price is £3750
