Made entirely in cedar wood, this fine boarded chest bears the Stuart Royal Arms flanked by caryatid figures. The lion appears to resemble Charles I. See Chinnery page 305 for an explanation of these chests which were made in North Italy for the English market. wonderful rich colour. 51 1/2 inches wide x 17 1/2 inches deep x 22 inches high.
