This wonderful early 18th century low armchair must have been made for a large gentleman and is a superb example of country furniture copying the rather grander walnut version. It has a fine burr elm splat, rather eccentric shepherd's crook arms, a broad drop-in seat and well shaped cabriole front legs. Excellent figuring to the timber and honey colour. 29 inches wide (on the arms) x 37 1/2 inches high.
