Tapersticks were quite common in the 18th century, but 17th century examples are particularly rare. This charming little stick is just 4 inches high and the photograph shows it next to a candlestick of more common size. Tapersticks were often used to melt sealing wax for use on letters and other documents. It is probably Low Countries circa 1660.
