Probably 14th century or earlier and reputedly from Ludlow, this ancient head was almost certainly projecting from the corner of a building or a column. It shows a man with long curing hair, deep set eyes and a twisted mouth. There is a cut down from the nose to the chin and possibly the head is intended to show a man with a cleft palate. It is 11 inches high x 7 inches wide x 8 1/2 inches deep. It is 18 1/2 inches high on the oak stand.
