Sold on the behalf of a customer who acquired it in Belgium many years ago, this large fragment was clearly part of a very impressive 16th century Flemish tapestry. It depicts a Roman soldier on horseback wielding a lance in the midst of a battle whilst at the feet of his mount lie bodies. The tapestry retains excellent colour. 70 inches wide x 102 inches high.
