Probably dating to about 1710, this lovely little oak settle has a double fielded panel back, silhouette arms and a further two fielded panels at the base. It has a lift up lid to the base which is held by iron butterfly hinges. The sides and back are also panelled. Superb colour and patination. It also has a nice faded velvet horsehair cushion. Provenance :- Just acquired from Grove Park, Yoxford, a fine Georgian manor house. Interestingly, on the bottom boards is written in ink "CATHERINE LEA, LLANYMYNECH, OSWESTRY 1842" and this is likely to be very close to where it was first constructed, albeit a hundred and twenty years earlier. 41 inches wide x 18 inches deep x 36 1/2 inches high.
