Sometimes described as dressing tables and sometimes as desks or bureau-tables, these flexible pieces of furniture can be used in a bedroom or a drawing room. This lovely little example has a quarter veneered and crossbanded top above a long drawer and a further six small drawers that flank a central niche cupboard which slides forward for ease of access and it stands on bracket feet. Original brass handles and escutcheons and with lovely honey colour. Circa 1740. 34 inches wide x 18 1/2 inches deep x 29 inches high.
