An oak trestle table - basically mediaeval.

This fascinating oak trestle table has a 2 1/2 inch thick one piece top attached to its original X frame base by massive pegs. Over the top of this, a plank top has been added, probably in the 17th century. The table was probably originally constructed in the 15th century and is incredibly heavy, although it is only about seven feet long. A rare survivor form that period and a good example of recycling!
