17th century walnut joint stools exist in very small numbers as walnut was expensive to use at the time and prone to rot and worm. This lovely example has survived in remarkably good condition and has lovely rich colour. It has a moulded edge top, above rails with fine quality carved lunettes, well turned substantial legs retaining the remains of their toes and solid stretchers. 19 1/2 inches x 11 inches across the top x 21 inches high.
