Of very primitive form, this oak lovely table has a rectangular boarded top held by a crude birdcage support which is fitted to a baluster turned stem. The stem is pegged through a three inch thick triangular block above three short chamfered legs and has the carved date 1667 and the inventory brand DRE. The very heavy block gives the table excellent stability. It has lovely untouched colour and patination. Provenance : from the private collection of a retired dealer. The top is 20 inches x 17 inches and it stands 26 1/2 inches high
