This stunning oak joint stool of impressive proportions dates from about 1625 and has a moulded edge top over well defined bicuspid rails which are chamfered on the edges to accentuate their shape. The elaborately turned inverted baluster legs have pronounced splay to the ends and terminated on virtually unworn toes which suggests that it might be a church piece. The top is 19 1/2 inches x 12 inches and it stands 23 inches high.
