A lovely untouched example of the sort of table that was decreed by Elizabeth I in 1564 - "a convenient wooden communion table" to be placed in the middle of the chancel, hence the carved spandrels on all four sides. Apart from these, it is simplicity itself with a boarded top and gun barrel legs. Good unpolished finish. 60 inches wide 27 1/2 inches deep x 35 inches high.
