A stunning Charles I oak joint stool with a hinged top secured by a lock with its original key. The rails have inlay and unusual carving. See Chinnery fig 2:215 for a stool with similar but more simple carving and the same gun barrel legs which he dates to circa 1630. Wonderful untouched colour and patination.
