Dating from the end of the 16th century, this oak three tier buffet has some unusual features. The one piece top is cleated round three sides and below it is a fretted and carved frieze, two carved cup and cover turned supports to the front above another one piece shelf with a moulded edge and two contrasting cup and cover turnings. A buffet with a similar carved frieze and supports was sold at the Sotheby's Cold Overton Hall sale lot 40 in October 1986. The back of the base section is panelled. Wonderful rich colour and patination. 46 1/2 inches wide x 20 1/2 inches deep x 25 1/2 inches high.
