Probably dating to about 1670, this lovely oak coffer has a boarded lid, a three panelled front and stands on good high legs. The fine quality carving which includes a stylized tulip suggests that it is from the Dorset area. The strap hinges are old replacements and the lid of the till is missing. There is a carved E on the top board and the colour is excellent throughout.38 1/2inches wide x 17 1/2 inches deep x 24 inches high.
