Of comparatively small size for this type of enclosed chest of drawers, this fine example dates from about 1670 and is in excellent untouched condition. It has four side hung drawers with moulded edges, original knob handles and superb oak linings. The pair of doors are held by their original butterfly hinges and are decorated with ebonised split baluster turnings and applied geometric mouldings. The sides are four panelled and the back is also panelled. The bun feet at the front are original and the back feet are old replacements. Lovely rich dark colour and patination. 39 1/2 inches wide x 24 inches deep x 33 inches high.
