Although not just in, this rare marriage chest is waiting for a gentleman by the name of William Harris (or his adoring wife/girlfriend/parents/grandparents) to find it. In adddition to the carved name, it bears the date 1682 in penwork and the front is carved with hearts and other designs, the end planks have shaped hearts between the feet (photographs available). It is in well patinated elm and is probably a West Country or Welsh piece. It measures 42 inches wide x just under 14 inches deep x 19 inches high. The price is £4950. |
