Sold on behalf of a customer, this 17th century cast-iron fireback bears the royal Stuart arms. For a similar example which is in Ham House see "British Cast-Iron Firebacks of the 16th to mid 18th Centuries" by Jeremy Hodgkinson catalogue entry 194. The author has confirmed that my customer's fireback is an original example. It measures 33 1/2 inches wide x 23 1/2 inches high.
