A mid 18th century mahogany chest of the highest quality with a brushing slide, four graduating drawers and ogee bracket feet. The one piece top is superbly figured and it has its original gilt brass handles and escutcheons of the type made famous by Thomas Chippendale. See Christies auction catalogue Volume 1 of the Dumfries House sale pages 128 &129 for examples of the this type of handle. Excellent rich colour and figuring to the timber. 34 inches wide x 20 1/2 inches deep x 33 1/2 inches high.
