This early 16th century walnut bench is a rare survivor from a period in which walnut was popular but prone to damage and woodworm. It retains most of its decorative apron and shaped ends and is a lovely grey colour. See "Early British Chairs and Seats" by Tobias Jellinek pages 190 &191 for several examples in oak which are described as English dating from 1520 to 1560. 86 inches long x 12 wide on the seat x 20 inches high. Anglo/French circa 1520.
