A fine late 17th century japanned beech armchair with in intricately carved back, swept arms and a scrolled front stretcher. The seat would probably have originally been caned. See Adam Bowett "English Furniture 1660-1714" Plate 8:58 for a similar chair. 53 inches high and 18 inches high on the seat.
