A mid 17th century North Country oak backstool.

A good example of a mid 17th century oak backstool in decent condition. Probably South Yorkshire although the pyramid finials suggest Cheshire/Lancashire. It has an open back carved with fleurs-de-lis and other designs, a boarded seat and gun barrel turned legs. It bears an old trade label on the back ascribing it to South Yorkshire 1675, although I feel it could be a bit earlier.38 inches high, the seat height is 18 1/2 inches and the seat width is 19 inches.
