This very interesting and impressive comb back Windsor armchair is in ash, elm and alder. It has an exaggerated bow to the crest rail and arms, a Gothic fretted splat and a wonderful saddle seat. The legs are simple cabrioles and it has H stretchers. Although acquired from a long standing local collection, it is almost certainly a West Country chair. See Michael Harding-Hill "Windsor Chairs" page 69 for a very similar example. Overall height 45 inches, seat height 17 1/2 inches.
